이 끊임없는 공포와 소요의 시기에, 우리는 George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, 그리고 백인 우월주의 경찰 조직에 의해 살해된 무고한 흑인들의 죽음을 애도하기 위해 마음을 모아 기도드립니다.
무한한 지혜를 소유하신 신께서 우리에게 용기와 깨달음을 주시도록 탄원합니다.
지배층의 이익만을 옹호하는 문화적, 사회적 오류와 감성적 편견으로 길들여진 우리에게 오순절 전통을 이어오신 성령께서 올바른 행동지침을 내려주시도록 탄원합니다. 우리는 오직 의로운 연대를 요구하시는 신을 섬기려 하기 때문입니다.
George Floyd의 잔인한 공개 처형은 유색인종을 탄압하는 체제화된 경찰 조직폭력의 진상을 적나라하게 보여주었습니다. 우리는 그의 가족과 공동체를 위하여 기도합니다. 그리스도 안에서 한 가족인 우리는 우리의 사랑을 그들과 나눕니다. 이 비극을 극복하고 사회의 잔인함을 폭로하고 그에 저항하는 일을 그의 유가족과 공동체가 계속하리라 확신합니다.
지금 봉기에 참여하는 시위자들이시여, 우리는 그대들의 안녕을 위해 기도합니다. 당신들은 사회정의를 위한 그리스도의 메시지를 몸으로 실천하며 일선에 서 있습니다. 당신들이 받아 마땅한 존경과 찬사를 보냅니다.
그대들의 안전과 자유를 위해 기도합니다. 백인우월주의와 결탁한 자본주의 체제를 붕괴하는 데 앞장서고 있는 당신들을 위해 기도합니다.
백인우월주의와 자본주의의 교차성 (필연적 연관성, intersectionality)을 우리는 알고 있으며, 경찰과 협조하면서 지역 감시에 참여한 가게가 있다는 것 또한 알고 있습니다.
이 현황을 한 순간, 한 순간 알리고 자료를 남기려 동분서주하는 보도진의 안전과 자유를 위해 또한 기도합니다.
자생적 궐기 현장을 정확히 보도하여 우리 모두가 소문으로 듣기보다는 상황을 눈으로 볼 수 있게 하기 위해 뛰는 당신들을 위해 기도합니다. 진실은 우리를 자유케 할 것입니다.
이 사태를 온라인으로 보거나 읽는 사람들이 봉기에 참여하는 시위자들을 성급히 정죄하는 기만에 속지 말기 바라고, 제도적 불의에 직접 몸으로 항거하는 사람들의 의로움을 보게 되도록 기도합니다.
온건하기만 하고 나태한 자세로 세상을 보아온 기독교인들이 이 기회에 급진적 안목을 가지게 되기 바라고, 그리스도가 그의 제자 된 우리에게 요구하는 것이 바로 시위자들이 보여주는 저 실천임을 깨닫게 되도록 기도합니다.
양심의 혁신이 이루어지는 기적을 위해 기도하며, 미네소타 주 권력구조 안에 있는 사람들이 큰 소리를 내어 연방정부의 진상조사와 수사가 제대로 된 결실을 맺게 되기를 기도합니다.
George Floyd를 비롯한 인종주의적 경찰 폭력의 모든 희생자들을 위해 응당한 법의 심판이 내려지도록 기도합니다.
끝으로, 물리적 폭력뿐 아니라 신분 계급과 부의 축적에 근거한 착취와 불평등의 제도적 폭력을 휘두르는 권력 구조가 시의적절하게 지금 붕괴되도록 기도합니다.
우리는 이 사악한 제도의 모든 형태를 절대 거부하며, 모든 사람이 아가페로 연대하여 인종주의, 불평등, 불의가 없는 사회를 이룰 때까지 결코 만족하지 않을 것입니다. 그 목적을 위해서 어떤 제도들은 반드시 붕괴되어야 합니다. 약속된, 모두를 위한 하나님의 왕국이 도래할 것을 우리는 믿습니다.

Christians For Socialism Statement on the Minneapolis Uprising
May 28th 2020
In this turbulent time of relentless horror, we gather together to mourn the loss of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and the other innocent Black people who have been murdered by the white supremacist police system.
We gather to pray together, that our prayers may be heard by God in her infinite wisdom, and that she may give us strength and understanding.
We pray in the Pentecostal tradition of the Holy Spirit, and allow her to inform our actions, rather than obeying our cultural programming and emotional prejudices, which only serves the interests of the ruling classes in this society. We want to serve no other than the God of Righteousness and Solidarity
We pray for the extended and community families of George Floyd, whose public execution has brought issues of systematic police violence on Black and Brown people to the forefront. We offer them our love as family members in Christ, and we have faith that they will recover and continue to speak out against these brutalities.
We pray for the wellbeing of the protestors participating in this uprising - you are on the forefront of praxis for Christ’s message of social justice and we pay you the respect you deserve.
We pray for your safety and freedom. We pray for those engaged in dismantling the white supremacist capitalist structure in Minnesota.
We recognize the intersectionality of capitalism and white supremacy, and recognize that at least one of the stores was surveilling the neighborhood in cooperation with police.
We pray for your safety and continued freedom. Similarly, we pray for the safety and free movement of the members of the press who are covering this and documenting events moment-by-moment.
We pray for your continued ability to accurately portray spontaneous uprisings such as that in Minnesota so the rest of us can see, rather than be told, what is going on. We believe that the truth will set the people free
We pray that those reading and viewing these events online not be manipulated by the mass media into placing blame on those participating in the uprising, but rather be reminded of the righteousness of any direct action that challenges systemic injustice.
We pray that our moderate Christian family be awakened and radicalized, and begin seeing praxis as a fulfillment of Christ’s commandments to us as disciples.
We pray for a miracle of conscience, that somehow individuals in the Minnesota power structure make enough noise for the federal investigation to actually go somewhere.
We pray for justice under the law for George Floyd and every other martyr of racially-motivated police violence.
Finally, we pray for the timely collapse of the power structure that not only enacts physical violence against citizens, but also commits violence through its hierarchical and wealth-based system of inequality and exploitation and oppression.
We absolutely stand against this system in all its forms and we will not be satisfied until every human is united in agape to build a better world, without racism, inequality, and injustice. And for that to happen, certain institutions must fall. We have faith in the coming of the promised kingdom of God, a society that will be wide and good.
In the name of the God of all peoples, in the name of Christ, who ransacked the Temple in the name of righteousness, in the name of the Shekhina, who inspires compassion and understanding,
